Here’s another hypothetical scenario:
Governor Kersey has appointed you to lead a state commission for economic development in Georgia. You must develop a strategy for improving the state’s economy. What will you suggest? What are your long-term goals for the state?

I am a low tax guy and strongly believe that lower taxation promotes economic growth. I will start by lowering the income tax on all earners. I will give tax incentives to those that contribute to charity. I will strongly promote entrepreneurship and give tax incentives to businesses that move to Georgia. I will create job training programs and resume writing programs for veterans and other so they can learn the skills necessary to compete for good jobs. I will work with private companies to share in the cost of these programs and give tax incentives for those that do so. My long term strategy includes all these. Pushing for entrepreneurship and still helping those that need help would be a pillar of my economic program.

Economic Development is so important for the state and local areas. The first thing that you have to take care of is the infrastructure of your state. The roads, water systems, sewage, and other utilities. Businesses will not want to move their companies to Georgia or areas that have poor living conditions. This would not be a quick fix, but something that would be a priority for the future to prosper. Also, the committee could encourage the local governments to offer or give property tax breaks so that they can afford or to have a profitable business in the area. The tax breaks or incentives could be offered to companies or businesses in order for them to bring their companies to Georgia. In turn, there would be more jobs for people in the community, more money for every to spend, and the economy could possibly boom. It would be a give and give relationship or a win-win situation. Local areas and the state benefit from businesses coming in, more jobs, and money being spent. It is the fundamentals of the economy.
