It is an American-based Muslim civil rights movement whose headquarter is located on
Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. (ADL, 2021). CAIR Chicago was registered independently in
Illinois. CAIR is said to be the largest Muslim civil rights movement. Initially, it was established
to challenge the negative stereotyping of Muslims and their Islamic religion in 1994 (ADL,
2021). A letter sent to the president in 1995 stated its objectives and importance to the American
public. Since its establishment by Omar Ahmad as a non-profit, non-governmental organization
(NGO), it has engaged society and the Muslim community in many ways. First, it has protected
the Muslim community members by presenting them in court, educating the community about
Muslims, and providing recommendations that bring unit (ADL, 2021; CAIR-Chicago, 2021).
The current executive director of the organization is Nihad Awad. Because the organization is
independent, it sets its own objectives, goals, and strategies to guide its operations and timeline.
In its operations, CAIR Chicago primarily works in the following areas: civil rights, advocacy,
legal representation, political empowerment, media monitoring, and community outreach (CAIRChicago, 2021). The impact of each segment is so touching and helpful to the public.

Like other established organizations, CAIR has its mission and vision statement. Its
mission statement is “to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice,
